My Adventure Begins!
I hope the word ‘flange’ isn’t used in the canal boat world too much… it makes me titter!
That said, it’s been around one month since I made up my mind to sell my 3 bed semi in Poole to start a nautical adventure on the British canals. Completely fucked off with owing money to a building society that doesn’t care about anything other than making a profit (fair enough) and disillusioned with my local Council and everything else in the Bricks’n'mortar world. I want complete freedom as far as that is possible whilst still holding down a job.
I’ve received so many positive back-slaps which surprised me. Even my Daddy said go for it!
This may seem a rather whimsical move forward but I couldn’t think of a better life than what I’ve chosen to follow. Free to unhook from my moorings to idle my way along beautiful scenic canals, drink wine and relax.
I propose that this blog will record the good and the bad of canal living. There’s no flies on me and there’ll be no holds barred on my ramblings here. I can be quite base and crude; it’s you that choose to read it so if you’re in any way offended I’ll not apologise :D
Don’t worry though ‘soulies’ I’ll not be disappearing up the canal without a paddle; I’ll still be attending all my favourite rare soul all-nighters! :D
So! I’m now waiting impatiently to sell my comfortable home for a life without loans! Wish me luck and speed :D

Hi good luck and I will be following your posts with great interest. Great looking site by the way.
Thank you Ray; for the compliment on the site as well as for the good wishes! Scary but exciting times ahead I think! :D
well well well, what an interesting turn your life seems to be taking,
will Lottie be coming along too? I’m hoping this works out for you
have you thought about broadband and other infastructure we landlubbers
take for granted. I often wonder as a few of my friends have narrow boats moored hereabouts we live at one of the outposts of the “Peak forest canal” I walk my dog daily along its Banks.
I dont suppose you’d be commuting to the Nighters in your “arc”
as it’ll take you a fortnight to get from Poole to Wigan Pier!
Bon Voyage,
Chris
Nice Looking Blog Btw!
Yes, Lottie is very excited about the move. And no, I wont be cruising to any all-nighters; I’ll use my car lol. I’ll live in permanent moorings within a marina that’ll have WIFI so I’ll still be connected the the umbillicus of the WWW :)
