Deposit paid!

This is to be our new home! We shall name her Towpath Townie :)
Today was the day we re-visited the boat we’re buying. We laid down the required deposit and agreed completion by the end of October with a months extension if necessary. Selling houses is so tediously long-winded!
I’ve included some photographs that we took today; not for your benefit but to give me the ‘vision’ I’ll need for the re-fit. I already roughly know what I’m going to do and it’s this:
- Replace the galley with cream gloss modern units, a circular glass hob and integral oven. I’m also fitting a narrow washing machine and marine fridge/freezer.
- Install my flight deck of a computer complete with tri-monitor set-up. The monitors will be wall hung opposite the L-shaped corner suite that converts to sofa-bed for guests.
- Replace the bathroom with a full-sized shower cubicle, counter-top basin and storage cupboards to the side of the shower unit. I’ll get a new loo too!
- Higher my bed to accommodate further drawer storage underneath.
- Widen and higher my Daughters bed to the same spec as mine.
- Decorate the entire interior in funky white with splashes of colour yet to be chosen.
I wont need to replace the flooring through the boat; it’s brand new laminate in a pale bamboo colour. Very nice actually.
Then I’m booking Lottie and I in for a two day helmsman course so we can handle our boat with confidence and safety. Then LOOK OUT! We’re hitting the ‘cut’ :D
WE’RE SO EXCITED!

Hi Karen, congrats! She looks like a really nice boat! Love the “before” pics. I have been a liveaboard for five years, by no means an expert, but if you have any questions, fire away! I had never been on a Narrowboat before and just got the mad urge to live on one! I could never go back to bricks and mortar now, I love it as you and your daughter will!

It’s nice to hear positive comments; I’ve been barraged by negative one’s in the main.
I can’t wait! All that freedom and you get to take your home with you on holiday! :D
I just want to get aboard and make it my home. And thank you for the offer of help; you don’t need to offer it twice – you’ll hear from me for sure
